US raises Terhan’s missile program issue
Amidst US President Donald Trump decertifying compliance by Iranian government and Washington’s continuous threats of withdrawing from multilateral nuclear deal, Iranian leadership has warned that it will cut the deal into shreds if other party chooses to tear it up
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, while meeting a group of academic elites in Tehran on Wednesday, said, “So long as the other side has not torn up the JCPOA, we will not tear it up either; however, if they tear up the JCPOA, we will shred it.”
Iran and five permanent members of the UN Security Council, including US, France, Britain, Russia and China plus Germany, known as P5+1, had signed the Joint comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in July 2015.
The implementation of the deal began in January 2016. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed several times that Iran is fulfilling its obligations.
According to the official website of the Iranian leader, he said, “Understanding that the JCPOA is in the interests of themselves and the Americans, the Europeans expressed opposition to the remarks of the US president about tearing up the JCPOA and the adoption of this stance is good but not enough.”
He reiterated, “The Europeans must stand up against the US measures such as the violation of the JCPOA including the sanctions that they anticipate to emerge from Congress and avoid unanimity with the Americans on issues such as Iran’s defensive power and the presence of Iran in the region because we will by no means accept the unison of the Europeans with the bullying of the US.”
He criticised US saying, “Those who have atomic missiles and weapons are prohibiting Iran from possessing missiles with two or three thousand kilometer [ranges]. What concern of yours is this issue or other matters related to Iran?”
Khamenei dismissed the criticisms of Iran’s missile program saying, “Why do you, yourself, have missiles? Why do you have atomic bombs?”
The Leader said that Iran has managed to stand against “the US hegemony” and make progress under pressure and sanctions. He described that Washington’s anger stems from the Islamic Republic’s strong role in the fight against the IS terrorists.
He said that US was furious because Iran has managed to thwart their plots in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. “The Islamic Republic has foiled the malicious US plots.”
He further said, “It is natural that US leaders would yell and speak against the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) that has dealt a blow to the dangerous objectives of the US and Daesh (IS) in the region.”
The Leader also denounced Trump’s recent statements about Iran saying it would be “a waste of time to respond to such blatherings and nonsensical remarks by the foulmouthed US president.”
Iranian leader recalled the animosity of the US regime towards his country since the victory of Islamic Revolution in 1979 and said, “In those days, there was neither the nuclear nor the missile and regional influence issue; however, the Americans had learnt that with the victory of the Revolution, they had lost Iran as a subordinate, obedient and very beneficial country.”
He said that US president and rulers were suffering from ‘retardation’ because they do not understand the developments in Iran and the region.
However President Donald Trump has alleged that Iranian government hides the facts and violates other limits.
US representative to UN Nikki Haley, instead of talking about the compliance of nuclear deal conditions by Iranians, on Wednesday, raised Tehran’s missile program.
