LPG cylinder prices hiked for the second time in last 15 days, check revised rates for major cities here

Another development that is likely to impact Indian households!! Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices have been hiked up for the second time in the last 15 days. The price of non-subsidised cooking gas has been increased by Rs 25 on Wednesday.

On August 17, the Oil Manufacturing Corporation has increased the prices of the domestic gas cylinders.

As reported by ANI, the LPG prices have doubled in the last seven years. An LPG refill which cost Rs 410.50 per cylinder on March 1, 2014, now costs Rs 859.50, which is more than double. As per the latest hike, a domestic cylinder of 14.2 kilograms would now cost Rs 884.50 per cylinder in Delhi. The rate of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has been hiked up by Rs 75 per cylinder.

In the last 15 days, the rate of an LPG cylinder has surged by Rs 50. It hiked by Rs 25 on August 18, and today by Rs 25 per cylinder. In the last two months, the price of LPG has hiked up by Rs 75.

LPG cylinder rates differ from state to state due to local taxes.

  • For an LPG cylinder in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, citizens will have to pay Rs 897.5.
  • In Mumbai, the rate of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder is now Rs 884.5, it was previously sold at Rs 859.50.
  • In Chennai, the cooking cylinder is priced at Rs 900.50 from September 1. Till yesterday, people had to pay Rs 875.50.

As per the data provided by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, there has been a constant hike in active domestic customers across India. As of July 1, 2021, there are 29.11 crores active domestic LPG consumers, including the PMUY customers. In 2018-19, the country had 26.54 crore customers.

Meanwhile, petrol & diesel prices today have been cut by 13-15 paise. Petrol price in Delhi is now at Rs 101.34 & in Mumbai, it’s Rs 107.39 per litre. Diesel price in Delhi now is at Rs 88.77 & in Mumbai, it’s Rs 96.33 per litre.
