Outspoken Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has said that he is super excited to play against world no. 1 Rafael Nadal of Spain in the fourth round of Australian Open.
“I’m super-excited honestly. Playing one of the greatest tennis players on centre court at your own Slam, it’s pretty damn cool,” Kyrgios said ahead of his clash.
“I don’t really dislike him. I don’t know him at all. Hell of a tennis player. Don’t know him as a person. I’m sure he’s okay,” he added having earlier called the Spaniard ‘super salty’ and his “polar opposite”.
Nadal had said that Kyrgios ‘lacks respect’ but before there meeting he said, “When he plays good tennis and he shows passion for this game, he is a positive player for our tour.”
While Kyrgios overcame Karen Khachanov of Russia in a five-set battle in the third round while Nadal had an easy straight set win against countryman Pablo Carreno Busta.
Nadal lead head-to-head with Kyrgios, 4-3.
