Mother of 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim today said that the execution of the four convicts in the case will empower the women of the country. She was responding to the death warrant issued by a Delhi Court today to the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case.

Convicts Mukesh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Singh, Pawan Gupta will be hanged at 7am on January 22 in Tihar Jail. Additional Sessions Judges Satish Kumar Arora pronounced the judgment.

“My daughter has got justice,” the victim’s mother Asha Devi said. “This decision will strengthen the trust of people in the judicial system.

Father of Nirbhaya, Badrinath Singh said that the “decision will instil fear in people who commit such crimes.”

Delhi commission for women Chief Swati Maliwal and Punjab Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati also welcomed the decision.

The convicts’ lawyer AP Singh told news agency ANI that they will file a curative petition in the SC in a day or two. He alleged that the probe was not unbiased in the case.
