It isn’t too late, send data on deaths due to oxygen shortage ASAP: Centre to AAP govt

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in a reply to Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that it isn’t too late to send the data of the deaths that occurred due to the shortage of oxygen in Delhi.

Taking to Twitter, Mandaviya shared the copy of the mail which the Central government sent earlier to Delhi on July 26. He further wrote that it isn’t too late to send the data. Adding further to it, he said that the Delhi government can send the data till August 13 so that they can answer the question to Parliament. He concluded the note by saying that AAP should send the data as soon as possible so that they can review it with their officers.

In the mail, it was mentioned that the state government need to share the record of deaths caused by lack of availability of medicine, medical equipment like oxygen cylinders and lack of oxygen in the hospital.

It was also mentioned in the mail that the data of people who were charged for hoarding and selling medical equipment like oxygen cylinders and medicines illegally between May 1 and May 31, should be shared separately.

Earlier, Manish Sisodia shared a video in which he claimed that the Delhi government has not received any letter from the Centre inquiring about the deat5hs in Delhi due to oxygen shortage and lack of medical facilities.

A day prior to this, Lav Agarwal,  Joint Secretary in the Union Health Ministry told reporters that only one state has sent the data of the death caused due to shortage of oxygen. However, he did not mention the name of the state.

In the second wave of coronavirus, people were gasping for oxygen and many people died due to the same reason and lack of medical facilities. The issue of deaths due to lack of oxygen is still pending in courts.
