Omicron scare: 5 things to be taken care of before you plan to travel

With the rising number of covid cases of new variants Omicron around the world, every country is restricting travelling in their country. The new variant Omicron, first detected in South Africa and Botswana, has now spread among at least 40 countries in the world, including India, the US, The UK, Israel, France and many others.

Till now, only India has reported 21 cases of Omicron in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Delhi. The numbers are likely to increase even more because many people are suspects as their genome sequencing are still awaited.

With each day passing the cases are increasing massively and people are once again fearing to travel anywhere. The scientists are still trying to figure out how to tackle this new variant.

However, you can still travel safely amid the Omicron outbreak. Here’re 5 things that need to be taken care of before planning to travel anywhere:

1. Vaccination

Its been almost a year since the government provided vaccines for everyone to tackle coronavirus. Even a vaccinated person can become infected but the benefit of vaccination is that it will not develop into a severe case of Covid-19. So, before planning to travel you must fully vaccinate yourself to protect yourself from the infection and others from you.

2. Maintain social-distancing

Wherever you are planning to go you must follow social distancing whether you are vaccinated or, not. Because in public places, people you touch or, come in contact with that you might not know. So make sure you are following social distancing in any public place.

3. Check travel guidelines before planning any trip

Before planning for any trip you must check the travel guidelines. Because several states might have different guidelines such as mandatory RT-PCR report of last 72 hours, even if you are fully vaccinated.

4. Always carry face masks and sanitisers

Whenever and wherever you are planning to go, you must carry a couple of face-masks and a pocket sanitiser.

5. Maintain hand hygiene

Always maintain your hygiene, try to avoid touching anything until it is necessary. While meeting anyone avoid hand-shaking and practice other gestures which does not include any contacts.
