The Central government on the eve of Diwali announced that there will be a reduction in the petrol, diesel prices as they are reducing the excise duty of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 respectively. Soon after this, opposition leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a dig at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and said that the decision of slashing down the prices of petrol and diesel was made out of fear and not from the heart.
She further said that eople should give answer to this vasooli government in the coming elections.
Earlier, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala hitted out at the Centre’s move of slashing prices and called it as PM Modi’s Jumla. He said that in the year 2021, prices of petrol were increased by Rs 28 and diesel prices were increased by Rs 26 per litre. And, now after losing 14 by-elections and 2 Lok Sabhas, reducing the petrol-diesel price by ₹5 and ₹10 is tom-tommed as ‘Diwali gift’ of Modi Ji! Hey Ram…
After the prices of petrol and diesel were slashed down, currently the price of petrol in Delhi is about Rs 105 per litre and the diesel prices has been reduced from Rs 98 to Rs 88.
Taking a note of this, several BJP led states also slashed the fuel prices in their states. The states that have reduced the VAT on petrol and diesel prices are Assam, Tripura, Karnataka, Goa, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Utar Pradesh, Haryana and Manipur.
