Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh resigns from the Chief Minister post

Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh held a press conference at Punjab Raj Bhawan this evening, amid of tussle between party leaders. Captain has submitted his resignation to the Governor Banwarilal Purohit, ahead of the Congress Legislature Party meeting in Chandigarh.

Reports say, earlier today, Captain had a phone conversation with Congress high command Sonia Gandhi. During this, he said that, he cannot stay in the party anymore after such humiliation.

At the press conference, the Captain confirmed that he has not resigned from Congress party yet, that he will decide later. He also said that, Congress party may appoint a new Cm on whom they have confidence, and whatever the party decides he is fine with it. ‘This is the third time CLP meeting is being held, and I am feeling humiliated’, said Captain.

Captain Singh further added that, he is still in the Congress party and will decide on his future course of action later, after consulting with his supporters.

The meeting of CLP is being held because a letter signed by the majority of Legislatures expressed their dissatisfaction with the Chief Minister and asked his removal from the Chief minister post.

Next year 2022, assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Punjab and recently Congress party appointed Navjot Singh Sidhu as President of Punjab Congress.
