Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were finally allowed to meet the families of the farmers and journalists who were killed in the heart-wrenching violence that took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri.
Priyanka Gandhi was under arrest for 48 hours and on Wednesday, she was allowed to meet the kins of the farmers who were killed in the incident. Rahul and Priyanka met the families of 19-year-old Lovepreet Singh, 30-year-old local journalist Raman Kashyap and Nachattar Singh.
The pictures of the same are doing rounds on the internet. In the photos, it can be seen that Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were seen sitting with the families of the farmers, and were sharing the grief with them.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also shared the photos of the same on his social media platform and wrote that they visited and offered condolences to the families of martyr Lovepreet Singh, martyr journalist Raman Kashyap, and martyr Nachattar Singh. He further wrote that these families seek justice and the resignation of the minister who committed this heinous crime.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi held a press conference in which he said that the job of the opposition is to create pressure so that swift action can take place. He also said that Congress will stand for farmers and they will create pressure to seek justice for them.
He further said that in India there is no democracy now, the country is being run by two dictators. Rahul Gandhi also said the ruling party is trying to build a false narrative and if they did too much of this, there will be an explosion of human emotion which will tear down the security wall.
