Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday said he has tested positive for Covid-19. The chief minister shared the news on social media, saying that he will continue working in isolation while following Covid-19 protocol.
On Twitter, Gehlot wrote, After getting tested for Covid-19, my test result has returned positive. I have no symptoms and feel fine. I will continue working in isolation while following COVID-19 protocol. Earlier, his wife, Sunita Gehlot had tested positive after which the chief minister had self-isolated as a precautionary measure.
Gehlot had tweeted that his wife has tested positive for novel coronavirus, though she is asymptomatic, and as per protocol, her treatment has started under home isolation. And he will be in isolation as a precautionary measure and will hold daily review meetings with doctors and officers at 8.30 pm, read his tweet on Wednesday.
Thereafter, Gehlot had been actively taking part in offline meetings with officials to discuss the overall Covid-19 situation in Rajasthan. Recently, the state reported 120 new Covid deaths and registered 16,613 positive cases in the last 24 hours.The total caseload of the state has climbed to 5,63,577 and total fatalities has reached 3,926, according to the official data.
Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the state has mounted to 1,63,372, the report showed. A total of 3,96,279 patients suffering from coronavirus have recovered in the state so far.
Ahead of the third phase of Covid-19 vaccination beginning on May 1, state health minister Raghu Sharma had said that Rajasthan needs at least seven crore doses of vaccines to inoculate people of age between 18-45 years.
