In a recent sharp attack, former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot on Friday refused BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s claim about his jumping to the BJP and said that she may have spoken to Sachin Tendulkar. The BJP doesn’t have the courage to speak with him.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi, a Congress leader for 25 years before she joined the BJP, had said on Thursday that that Sachin will also join the BJP soon because Congress has been mistreating him for a long.
After former Union Minister Jitin Prasad’s exit from the Congress, speculations have been doing the rounds that Pilot, too, will quit the Congress. Amid rumours of discontentment, there were also a news that Pilot will reach Delhi on Friday.
Refusing Joshi’s claim of jumping the ship, he said Rita Bahuguna Joshi has said that she has spoken with Sachin, it is possible that she has spoken with Sachin Tendulkar. She doesn’t have the courage to speak with him.
Pilot made these comments at a protest in Jaipur in response to a question from reporters about Joshi’s claim that he was not comfortable in the Congress and may join the BJP soon. Pilot along with his loyalists and supporters including some of the MLAs who took his side during the political crisis in Rajasthan last year, were present at the protest site.
The Rajasthan Pradesh Congress committee has given a state-wide protest call against the central government over rising fuel prices.
The speculations have been doing rounds after Sachin Pilot expressed his displeasure over the issues raised by him against Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot last year. The Congress set up a committee comprising KC Venugopal, Ahmed Patel and Ajay Maken to address the issues raised by Sachin Pilot.
Pilot had earlier said that the Congress high command has failed to resolve issues raised by him even the three-member panel appointed to tackle Pilot’s demands has not met since August last.
Congress has a list of leaders who have switch to BJP due to leadership crisis and infighting in the party. Jitin Prasada’s former Congress colleague Jyotiraditya Scindia had jumped the BJP in March last year. Ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party lost Haryana heavyweights Birender Singh and Rao Inderjit Singh. Himanta Biswa Sarma, a Assam Congress stalwart, left for the BJP in 2015 and is now the Assam chief minister.
Former Congress leader and Union minister Kishore Chandra Deo, Priyanka Chaturvedi and PC Chacko, Tamil actor Khushboo Sundar and former Congress spokesperson Tom Vaddakan are among those who have left the Congress in the recent past.
