Dosti Ki Jeet Ho: Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq hopes Pakistan meets India again in T20 World Cup final

Before hammering New Zealand by 5 wickets in Sharjah, Pakistan had defeated India by 10 wickets in their opening match of the T20 World Cup on Sunday. Currently, Babar Azam-led Pakistan is leading the Group 2 points table ahead of Afghanistan, Namibia, New Zealand, India and Scotland.

After the 10-wicket victory against their traditional arch-rival India on Sunday, Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq wants an India-Pakistan final at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

If two teams meet again in the T20 World Cup final, it would be a great opportunity for the two nations to spread the message of love and peace, he said on Thursday.

Apart from his side’s spectacular win, the previous India-Pakistan match has sent a strong message of love, respect and humanity and the moment came when Mohammad Rizwan hugged Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni had a chat with other Pakistan players, Mushtaq said. He also believes that if the two teams play more matches together, more such visuals will help in bringing peace between the two nations.

Asked if he would want another game with their traditional rivals in the ICC T20 World Cup final, Mushtaq said, it would be a great thing because and it is not because Pakistan defeated India. India is a strong team, everyone considers them as one of his favourite, he said.

A range of questions were asked by the reporters during a press conference ahead of Pakistan’s match against Afghanistan on Friday, Saqlain said he also considers England, Australia and South Africa as strong contenders.
