Security agencies have stepped up vigil at three major international airports in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. The action was taken after Mumbai Police received an email saying of ‘overhearing six boys talking about a possible aircraft hijack at these facilities.’ The agencies have been alerted for a 9/11 kind of attack in the country.

APN quoted sources saying that the security apparatus at these airports has been put on ‘an enhanced alert and protocols have been stepped up’.

Reports received  says that special anti-sabotage sweeps were being undertaken at these airports since morning and security agencies, including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have enhanced frisking of passengers, baggage scanning, pre-embarkation checks and patrols in the vicinity of the airports.

Sniffer dogs were pressed into service and quick reaction teams for undertaking sanitization drills at the airports were deployed while airlines have been asked to remain extra vigilant.
