Today is a special day for actor Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as their blockbuster film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which was released on October 20, 1995, completes 25 years. On this special day, the actors marked the occasion by changing their social media display pictures to their onscreen characters from the film. Shah Rukh and Kajol changed the handles of their Twitter accounts to Raj Malhotra and Simran, respectively.
While sharing a romantic scene from the movie, SRK posted on Instagram that it’s been 25 years, filled with gratitude towards the people who loved the character of Raj and Simran with all the heart. Meanwhile, Kajol shared a few scenes from the movie and posted on Instagram that Raj and Simran, 2 names, 1 film, 25 years and the love doesn’t stop coming in.
Actor Anupam Kher, who played the role of Raj Malhotra’s father in the movie, shared an emotional note on his Instagram handle, along with a bunch of photos from the film’s sets and said he felt proud to be part of this iconic film which completes 25 years today.
Vogue stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, who played Simran’s best friend Sheena in the movie, shared an emotional note on her Instagram feed and explained how she got the chance to play the character and how movie director Aditya Chopra and Karan Johar, who featured as one of Raj Malhotra’s friends convinced her to do the role.
To mark the special day, Heart of London Business Alliance on Monday revealed that SRK and Kajol’s statue will be unveiled in London’s Leicester Square in 2021 to celebrate the silver jubilee of one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic love stories, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
