Smriti Irani slams Mamata Banerjee at Howrah rally, says no patriot can stay in a party that insults Jai Shri Ram
Union minister Smriti Irani on Sunday addressed the crowds at Howrah ahead of Amit Shah’s virtual address. She said people will never support a party which encourages people to fight among themselves and hates the central government for its own profit. She said no patriot can stay in a party which insults a slogan like Jai Shree Ram. She added that Didi might have abandoned the slogan but under PM Modi’s leadership, a Ram temple was being built. She added that Ram Rajya was knocking on West Bengal’s doors.
Irani was filling in for Shah whose West Bengal tour was cancelled at last moment. Home Minister Amit Shah however addressed the crowds via video conference and slammed West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee during hi s address. Shah said Didi will find herself alone by the time assembly election in the state take place as several leaders from Trinamool are parting ways with the party. He said Banerjee has taken the state backwards and done injustice to people of West Bengal for which they will never forgive her.
Shah added that he has told Rajib Banerjee, who joined the saffron party on Saturday after quitting from the TMC, the BJP will form a majority government in West Bengal. He said Banerjee should introspect as to why so many were resigning from the party. Shah said Mamata Banerjee is committed to only welfare of her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
Former TMC leaders Rajib Banerjee, Baishali Dalmiya, Prabir Ghoshal, Rathin Chakraborti and Rudranil Ghosh who were inducted into the party on Saturday were also present at the Howrah rally. During the event, former Bengal minister Rajib Banerjee said they want double engine government at both the Centre and West Bengal for Sonar Bangla.
West Bengal is set to go to polls later this year.
