T20 World Cup: ICC announces massive prizes, winners to take Rs 12 crore, check details

Just a week before the T20 World Cup 2021 begins, ICC have announced the prize money details of the mega event. International Cricket Council (ICC), in a press release, revealed that winners of the tournament will be given $1.6 million (Rs 12 crore approx), while the runner-up will receive half of the winning amount.

The two losing semi-finalists will also be rewarded a prize money of $400,000 each. A total of $5.6 million have been allocated for the tournament which will be shared by all the 16 participating teams.

The ICC also made sure that a bonus amount will be given for win during the Super 12 stage of the tournament, same as during 2016 edition of the world cup. Teams, who will be winning in group stage matches, will get $40,000 for every victory. The teams which get knocked out in the Super 12 stage will be also awarded $70,000 each.

The confirmed teams to participate in the Super 12 stage are Afghanistan, Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and the West Indies.

Teams who will be winning their round-1 matches, they will again win $40,000 for each victory during the 12 matches in the stage. The four teams which get knocked out during round one will also receive $40,000.

Following the IPL trend, ICC also announced a drinks break which will take place during each of the innings in the match. The duration of the break will be 2 minutes and 30 seconds and will take place during halfway mark of the each innings

India is set to play Pakistan in group stage on October 24th. The tournament will take place at teh UAE and Oman.

Winners – $ 1,600,000 (Rs 12 crore approx)

Runners-Up – $ 800,000

Losing Semi-finalists – $ 400,000 each

Round 2 Wins – 3x 40,000 = $ 1,200,000

Round 2 Exit – 8×70,000 = $ 560,000
