Virat Kohli accused of helping growth of online gambling

New Delhi: Truth is often stranger than fiction. In life, one never knows what awaits who at which turn. Suddenly it was the time for the most celebrated cricketer of the country, Virat Kohli. Preparing for the IPL in the UAE, he suddenly finds he has been supposedly helping gambling sites reap money.

How has this happened? On Friday, a Chennai-based advocate filed a petition in the Madras High Court, demanding that action be taken against the India captain, because these gambling apps were using his name as endorsement to promote online gambling.

The other name in the petition before the court was of Bahubali star Tamannah Bhatia.

As per reports, the petition also says that all such apps, using the names of such stars or otherwise should be banned. Such stars, says the application, are capable of corrupting young minds. The petition seemingly comes off the incident of a youngster who had committed suicide when he could not repay the money he had spent on online gambling.
