Virender Sehwag is one of the prolific batsmen to have represented India in International cricket. Today on October 20, he celebrates his 42nd birthday.
During his playing days, Sehwag scored a total of 8,586 runs with an average of 49.34 and accumulated 8273 runs from ODIs. One of the most destructive opener batsmen also appeared in 19 T20s for India, amassing 394 runs.
Apart from this, he was a part of two world cup-winning squads, led by that time skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He was also a part of the team when India clinched the inaugural World cup T20 in South Africa before lifting the world cup in 2011 on the home grounds.
He is the only Indian batsman to pile up a triple century and gain that feat two times–309 in 2004 against Pakistan and then 319 in 2008 against South Africa.
He also played in the IPL, scoring 2,728 runs from 104 games for Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab.
The credit of fastest triple ton knock also goes to Virender Sehwag– he scored 319 runs in just 278 balls against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.
Whereas, Sehwag was also in contention for India’s coaching role when Anil Kumble resigned from the post after the Champions Trophy in the year 2017. However, the BCCI selected the former team director Ravi Shastri.
Even after putting his bat down, Sehwag keeps entertaining his fans on social media.
