The blast occurred towards the end of the concert at the foyer of the Manchester Arena, when fans and families flocked towards the exit.

Northern England city Manchester on Monday witnessed an explosion during the concert of pop star Ariana Grande which killed at least 22 people and injured more than 50. The sole attacker, whom the police suspect a suicide bomber, was killed at the spot.

The blast occurred towards the end of the concert at the foyer of the Manchester Arena, when fans and families flocked towards the exit.

“I just heard this massive bang and then everyone just started running towards us screaming and crying. Everyone just trampled over us just to get out,” Jessica, a concert-goer, told BBC radio.

Frantic scenes of people screaming and running were seen on several videos surfaced online after the blast.

However, Grande, a popular pop icon among teens, was rescued safely from the spot.

Until now, no terrorist organization has claimed responsibility of the attack though many IS supporters celebrated the blast on social media.

“In the absence of conclusive evidence, the choice of venue, the timing and the mode of attack all suggest this was terrorism,” a US counter terrorism official told media.

Prime Minister Theresa May termed the blast as appalling and said her thoughts were with the victims and their family. May, who is facing election in June, cancelled all the campaign programs.

“We are working to establish the full details of what is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack. All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been affected,” she said.

The blast would be the worst attack on UK in 12 years, if confirmed a terror attack.
