Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has tested positive for Covid-19. The CM announced it on his Twitter handle on Wednesday saying after detecting early symptoms of coronavirus, he got tested and his report is positive. He said he has isolated himself as a precautionary measure after some officials at his office tested positive for Covid-19.
Tweeting in Hindi, the UP CM said some officials of his office have tested positive for Covid-19. As a precautionary measure, he has have isolated himself and he is carrying on his work virtually. The CM has appealed to all those who have come in contact with him to get themselves tested and take precautions, he added.
Some officials, including his OSD Abhishek Kaushik, have reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus infection.
Maenwhile, former Uttar Pradesh CM, Akhilesh Yadav has also tested positive for Covid-19. In a tweet in Hindi today, Akhilesh Yadav said his corona test report has come positive. He has isolated himself and started treatment at home itself. People who have come in contact with him in the past few days should get themselves tested. They are requested to stay in isolation for some days, he added.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh reported 18,021 fresh coronavirus cases on Tuesday, the highest-ever single-day spike with 85 virus-related deaths. With this, the state’s Covid tally stands at 7,23,582 and the death toll at 9,309.
Uttar Pradesh’s previous biggest jump of 15,353 cases was recorded on 11 April.
Over 80 lakh people have been administered coronavirus vaccine doses in the state. Till now, 3.71 crore samples have been tested, with 2.18 lakh being tested on Monday.
