Incumbent MLA from Badarpur Narayan Dutt Sharma, who recently quit the Aam Aadmi Party, is set to contest Delhi Assembly election 2020 from the Badarpur constituency on Bahujan Samaj Party’s ticket.
AAP had released its list of 70 candidates on January 14, which didn’t feature Sharma. Instead AAP fielded Ram Singh Netaji, a former MLA of the Congress party who switched to AAP recently.
Ram Singh Netaji had won the Assembly elections in 2008 from Badarpur on a BSP ticket. BSP had won two seats in the 2008 assembly elections.
However, in subsequent elections the party was not able to win a single seat.
In a first BSP has announced to contest all 70 seats in Delhi on its own, the party announced its first list of 42 candidates on late Saturday evening. The second is list is expected tomorrow.
The list includes Sardar Harchet Singh from Rajouri Garden, Sher Singh from Janakpuri, Deepak Rajput from Uttam Nagar, Deepak Godra from Bijwasan, Ram Ghulam from New Delhi, Gyanchandra Gautam from Malviya Nagar, Nageshwar Das from RK Puram, Suraj Prakash from Mehrauli, Arun Kumar from Ambedkar Nagar (reserved) , Suresh Chaudhary from Sangam Vihar, JP Sharma from Kalkaji, Karmaveer Singh from Kondli (reserved), Jairam Lal from Laxmi Nagar, Dilip Gautam Vishwas Nagar, Manjit Singh from Krishna Nagar, Tikraj from Gandhi Nagar, Kumari Indu from Shahdara, Trivendra Kumar from Rohtash Nagar, Afzal Siddiqui from Seelampur, Haji Mehruddin from Ghonda, Suresh Malkani from Gokalpur (reserved), Nathu Singh from Karawal Nagar, Umashankar from Timarpur, Laxman from Badli , Ranjit Ram from Bawana, Ravindra Kushwaha from Kiradi, Sandeep from Nangloi, Murarilal from Mangolpuri (reserved), Asaram from Shakurbasti, Mustakim Ahmed from Wazirpur, Odl Town Pramod Sahni, Sadar Bazar from Assad Azmi, Sudesh Srulia from Chandni Chowk and Pradeep Rawal from Patel Nagar (reserved).
As per the schedule, voting is on February 8, while counting of votes will take place on February 11.
