South African star batsman AB de Villiers and a close friend of Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, who had played his last match as RCB skipper against the Knight Riders on Monday, lauded the run machine for inspiring many with his leadership qualities.
After the match, RCB took to Twitter to post a video conversation of the dressing room after the game.
In the video, AB de Villiers was heard pulling Virat Kohli’s leg after his final game as captain in the T20 league. De Villiers, who shares a great rapport with Virat Kohli, went on to pull his legs in his tribute speech and said umpires in IPL will now sleep a bit better.
Kohli has had several confrontations with umpires in the IPL over the years as a captain and was also involved in a heated argument with match umpire Virender Sharma in his last game as RCB captain against KKR on Monday.
The South Africa star batter congratulated Kohli on his tenure as captain and said that he can’t wait to see him win trophies for India and RCB.
Kohli’s nine-year stint as skipper of the RCB ended with a 4-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator of the 2021 Indian Premier League in Sharjah on Monday. It was Kohli’s last match as RCB skipper as he had already announced to step down from RCB captaincy before the start of the UAE leg.
