Saif Ali Khan starrer political drama Tandav has landed in controversy as Bharatiya Janata party leaders have slammed the Amazon web series for hurting Hindu sentiments. The web series has to be boycotted and the makers and actors have to apologise, said the party leaders.
The BJP leader Ram Kadam took to twitter to criticise the web series and its makers and actors. He questioned why everytime films and web series are being made to humiliate Hindu deities. In the new web series Tandava, Saif has once again became part of such series that hurts Hindu sentiments.
Kadam asked the director Ali Abbas Zafar to remove the part where Lord Shiva is being made fun of. He went on to say that actor Zeeshan Ayub will have to apologise, and till the time necessary changes are not made, the BJP party will continue to boycott Tandav.
Further in his tweet, the BJP leader threatened the makers that he would be approaching Mumbai police at Ghatkopar police station to lodge FIR against the creators, directors and actors of the web series.
Kadam also said that he would write to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, demanding a censorship to the web series of OTT platforms just like a censor board to review films.
He also released a video, where he called out Bollywood, saying that if feelings and sentiments continue to be hurt by them, then they will be beaten up with a shoe in the middle of the square.
On the other hand, BJP MP Manoj Kotak also tweeted that he has also spoken to Prakash Javadekar about the series and demanded censorship of contents on OTT platforms in order to maintain integrity of India. He said Hindu gods and goddesses are being made fun of in films and webseries, which is in dire need of immediate ban.
The netizens have also expressed displeasure about the dialogues and scenes of Tandava. The users have started a trend called #BoycottTandav on Twitter. Many people are drawing anger for showing Lord Shiva in a disrespectful way.

Meanwhile, Tandav starring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Sunil Grover, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Kritika Kamra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub,Kumud Mishra, among others, premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 15.
