Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (Saturday, Feb 23) addressed a rally in Rajasthan’s Tonk, where he criticized the attacks on Kashmiri after Pulwama attack which claimed the lives of 40 CRPF soldiers.
“Our fight is against terrorism and enemies of humanity. Our fight is for Kashmir, not against Kashmiris…Kashmiris have suffered a lot, and we should stand in their support. What happened with the Kashmiri student in last week should not happen again in the country”, he said to the gatherings that were there in the rally.
After the suicide bomb attack in Pulwama on February 14, the Kashmiris were boycotted and were being assaulted at many places across India.
Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah praised PM Modi for condemning attacks on Kashmiris and tweeted-
It’s been a more than a week since the terrible attack in Pulwama & more than a week that Kashmiris have been bearing the brunt of the public anger. Perhaps finally after PM @narendramodi Sb has spoken these forces targeting Kashmiris will stop in their tracks.— Omar Abdullah (@OmarAbdullah) February 23, 2019
No one from the BJP spoke anything condemning the attacks on Kashmiri students until Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Tonk today.
From West Bengal to Maharashtra, many Kashmiri students have complained of being beaten up and hundreds have returned to Kashmir to escape persecution.
