Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condemned the terror attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, and said the sacrifices made by the 40 CRPF martyrs will not go in vain.

Of the 40 slain CRPF personnel, 12 belonged to Uttar Pradesh. Paying tributes to the jawans, the UP chief minister termed the terror strike a “cowardly attack”, and said it was a crime against humanity.

Yogi Adityanath has announced ex gratia of 25 lakh rupees each along with a job for one member of the families of the soldiers martyred in Pulwama attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

The chief minister has also announced that roads leading to villages of the martyrs will be renamed after them.

Of the 12 CRPF martyrs from the state, two are from Shamli district. They are Pradeep Kumar Prajapati and Amit Kumar. The other martyred personnel are Kaushal Kumar Rawat (Agra), Vijay Kumar Maurya (Deoria), Pankaj Kumar Tripathi (Maharajganj), Ram Vakil (Mainpuri),Avdhesh Kumar (Chandauli), Mahesh Kumar (Prayagraj), Ramesh Yadav (Varanasi), Ajit Kumar (Unnao), Shyam Babu (Kanpur Dehat) and Pradeep Singh Yadav (Kannauj). According to official sources, they would be accorded state funeral.

The chief minister has issued directives that a minister of his cabinet, along with the area district magistrate and the SSP concerned should be present at the last rites of the slain jawans. The list of the ministers assigned the districts to which the CRPF personnel belonged has been finalised.

According to official sources, the ministers assigned the districts are Jai Prakash Nishad (Chandauli), Ramapati Shastri (Maharajganj), Suresh Rana (Shamli), Anupama Jaiswal (Deoria), Satyadev Pachauri (Mainpuri), Ashutosh Tandon (Allahabad),Neelkanth Tiwari (Varanasi), SPS Baghel (Agra), Sandeep Singh (Kannauj), Mukut Bihari Verma (Kanpur Dehat) and Brijesh Pathak (Unnao).

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister of the state and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav has also condemned the attack on soldiers in Pulwama. He tweeted, “I pay homage to the soldiers martyred in the Pulwama attack. The entire country is getting restless by the situation which is going out of control in Jammu and Kashmir. BJP should stop politics and start working in the interest of the nation.”
