Rapper Hard Kaur’s account on Twitter was suspended on Tuesday (August 13) after she posted a video abusing and challenging the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. In the 2:20-minute long clip, the 39-year-old singer could be seen with three supporters of the Khalistan movement speaking in favour of the separatist movement.
Kaur was also seen challenging PM Modi and Home Minister Shah to a fight in the ring instead of threatening her, her family and fans. She also accused the two of using people, army and everyone for their personal benefits.
After sharing the video on Twitter, Hard also posted a promotional clip for her upcoming song titled ‘We Are Warriors’ on Instagram, which also featured the Khalistan supporters. The Khalistan supporters in the video said that they will hoist the Khalistan flag in 15 nations.
Several Sikh groups have demanded for a separate country called Khalistan in Punjab as a homeland for Sikhs.
This is not the first time Hard Kaur, born Taran Kaur Dhillion, targeted the right-wing political groups in India.
In June, Hard Kaur was charged with sedition for her comments against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat. Alongside a photograph of the RSS chief, she made controversial remarks, saying, “In history, Mahatma Gandhi and Mahavir fought against Brahminical caste system. You are not a nationalist.”
As per media reports, an FIR was registered under sections 124A (Sedition), 153A, 500, 505 of the Indian Penal Code and 66 IT Act against Hard Kaur for her remarks.
The matter had been forwarded to the cyber cell for further investigation.
In her video, the singer also termed the sedition charges filed against her in June as ‘girly moves’.
Dhillion is presently based in the United Kingdom and owns a music label, Future Records India. She is best known for her songs – Move your Body (Johnny Gaddar), Lucky Boy (Bachna Ae Haseeno) and Sadda Dil Vi Tu (ABCD: Any Body Can Dance). She also acted in the 2011 Bollywood film Patiala House, alongside Akshay Kumar.
