Manmohan Singh tests positive for Covid, admitted to AIIMS

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday. The former PM underwent a test after he had a temperature, ANI reported.

He has since been admitted to the All India Institute of Medicines’ trauma unit. He has been taken first dose of Covaxin on March first week.

Singh had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday highlighting what he said were things that could be improved upon as criticism mounted against the government. The vaccine shortage, the shortage of oxygen and hospital beds are becoming acute problems for the government, especially when the second wave of the coronavirus is showing no signs of slowing down.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan replied to him on Monday. Vardhan gave a backhanded compliment to Singh while telling the former PM that his partymen and women were being unjust in their criticism.

The Allahabad High Court on Monday imposed lockdown measures in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Kanpur in view of the increasing Coronavirus outbreaks in the districts and cities named. The lockdown will be in force till April 26, Monday next.
