Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Sunday (Feb 24) said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the only person who can give a befitting reply to Pakistan and blamed India’s first PM Jawaharlal Nehru for the Kashmir issue.
In J&K, Shah paid tributes to the 40 CRPF soldiers who lost their lives in deadly Pulwama attack on February 14.
Addressing the Booth-level workers in J&K, Shah said his party would ensure that every illegal immigrant from Kashmir to Kanyakumari is thrown out of the country in line with the model in Assam, where the process is underway to identify the illegal immigrants, especially those from Bangladesh.
“The country is faced with very security issues… Only Modi can give security to the country, take it forward to make it a world power and has the capability and capacity to give a befitting reply to Pakistan”, Shah said.
Criticising Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Shah said “If there is problem of Jammu Kashmir, it’s because of Nehru, who is Rahul Gandhi’s great grandfather. Shah also alleged that Nehru took the matter in his own hands and sidelined then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhnjai Patel, who addressed problems of more complexes in nature like Hyderabad within days.”
He added that “…But don’t worry this is not the Congress Government… and our resolve is that we will not allow Jammu Kashmir to separate from India.”
Meanwhile, J&K Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmed Mir responded to Shah’s comment on Nehru, saying “They (BJP) should talk about today’s India. Since the rise of Modi and Shah, they have been relying on this rhetoric. They should talk of present times.”
