Time Now anchor Navika Kumar on Wednesday faced the anger of tweeple when her clip in which she used derogatory words for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on live TV debate went viral on Twitter. Since then, #KachraNavika has been trending on Twitter along with the demand of an apology or resignation.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday took to Twitter to warn media for using such abusive terms to describe former chief and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
In a tweet, Baghel said that Rahul Gandhi is the main leader of the opposition. The Congress will not tolerate such abusive words against him and respects every media house which is being a responsible fourth pillar of democracy, he tweeted. Warning media, Baghel said do not forget limits.
His tweet did not go down well with some users who also took twitter to counter criticize Baghel.
Rohan Gupta, the chairman of Congress’s social media department said in a tweet that the media have forgotten the dignity of journalism in the devotion of the BJP.
Senior Congress leader and Chhattisgarh health minister T.S. Singh Deo asked the channel to apologize publicly for the language used by Navika Kumar against Rahul Gandhi.
All India Mahila Congress tweeted that the language used by Navika Kumar shows how Godi Media has sold its soul. The News Broadcasters Association should take strict action against the channel and Navika’, the Mahila Congress said. Mumbai Pradesh Youth Congress has announced a dharna outside the Times Now channel today.
Many users on social media are also taking a dig at Navika. Some even demanded for a video apology and promises never to repeat this insanity ever again against Rahul Gandhi.
During a debate on Punjab Congress’s power tussle, there Time Now TV ancgor Navika Kumar used objectionable words for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Although she has apologized for her actions, the Congress leaders have opened a front against her.
Navika Kumar later took to social media to apologise for her act calling it a momentary lapse in the flow of conversation and using an unparliamentary word on air.
It is not the first time when Navika Kumar has embroiled in controversy. Last month, she asked Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra if he had a girlfriend or not. This was followed by Navika declaring him to be the most eligible bachelor of the country. After that Navika had faced criticism by the tweeple for asking such questions from Chopra.
