Netizens troll Kangana Ranaut for soft porn star jibe at Urmila Matondkar

Actor Kangana Ranaut was widely mocked and trolled on social media on Thursday for her comment against actor Urmila Matondkar, whom Ranaut had referred to as a soft porn star and one who is not known for her acting skills.

Several Bollywood personalities criticised Ranaut for her broadside against Matondkar. Filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, choreographer-director Farah Khan, director Anubhav Sinha, actor Swara Bhasker and many others came out in support of the Rangeela star. Farah Khan praised Matondkar and others for speaking up for the film industry with class.

Reacting to Ranaut’s comment on the existence of a drug mafia in Bollywood, Matondkar had said the entire country is facing the menace of drugs and asked if Ranaut knew that Himachal Pradesh is the point of origin for drugs. Kangana Ranaut is from Himachal Pradesh.

After the death by suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the subsequent debate on whether nepotism in Bollywood had led to his frustration and depression, Ranaut was one of the first and few voices to speak out on the camp-nature of the film industry since she has spoken out against nepotism earlier.

Ranaut had also alleged that 99 percent of the film industry has been exposed to drugs. She had also recently joined issue with Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan, a veteran actor. Bachchan had spoken in favour of the film industry after Lok Sabha MP Ravi Kishan had stated in Parliament that Bollywood is in a drug-filled gutter. BJP MP Hema Malini and several other yesteryear stars had sided with Bachchan. The two veteran stars had said the entire industry cannot be tarred with the same brush if some people in the film industry took drugs.
