An avid fan of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar cut off the fourth finger of his hand and offered it to a local deity following NDA’s win in the recently concluded Bihar elections and Kumar getting the fourth term as state CM. This is the fourth time the 45-year old, a resident of Vaina village under Ghosi block in Jehanabad district, has chopped his finger. He had sacrificed his three other fingers when Kumar won earlier terms as chief minister.

When he was asked by the media why he chops off his fingers for a leader whom he has never met in life, he said it is his way of expressing his happiness. He added that he will continue to repeat the exercise in the future a well. He had earlier made efforts to meet the CM, but did not succeed. He was termed as a senile by the locals when he chopped off his finger for the first time in 2005 following Kumar’s success in 2005 assembly polls.
National Democratic Alliance won a majority with 125 seats in recently held Bihar assembly election. Although, Kumar’s party Janata Dal United could not live up to expectations and rode on the success of saffron party, he was made the chief minister upon BJP’s insistence. Along with him, two deputy chief ministers from the BJP also took oath.
