Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said it is unacceptable to see Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami bowing down before Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and touching their feet.
While speaking at an election rally in Chennai, Gandhi alleged that Tamil Nadu CM is being forced to bow down. Recollecting a picture of an elected representative touching the feet of Shah, Rahul claimed that the only relationship that is possible in Bharatiya Janata Party is where one can touch the feet of their leaders like bow down before Amit Shah or Narendra Modi
Furthermore, Gandhi went on to express that it is unbearable to witness the Prime Minister controlling Tamil Nadu CM, making him touch his feet silently which he finds hard to accept.
Tamil Nadu CM doesn’t want to bow in front of Amit Shah but he is forced to because of the corruption he has done, added Gandhi.
Gandhi said that a Chief Minister of a state with such a great language and tradition touching the feet, bowing down before BJP leaders is a sight which he can’t bear and it makes him angry. This is the reason why he wants a relationship with the Tamil people that is equal, he said.
While the BJP wants everyone to bow, the Congress party believed in the ethos of brotherhood and equality, he said. Also he wanted the state to be run from Tamil Nadu and not Delhi, an oblique allegation that the BJP-led Centre called the shots in the state and not the AIADMK government.
Further, he said that the AIADMK-BJP front would be decimated in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming poll and the DMK, its chief M.K. Stalin and his party-led Secular Progressive Alliance would steer the rout of AIADMK and its allies, he exuded in confidence.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is set to head to a poll for from 234 constituencies in a single-phase election commencing from April 6. The results will be declared on May 2.
