Ram Charan tests positive for novel coronavirus

Actor Ram Charan on Tuesday revealed that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The actor is asymptomatic and has home quarantined himself. He has requested people who he came in contact with to get tested for Covid-19.

Charan on Tuesday took to twitter to share the diagnosis. The actor released a statement, saying that he has tested for Covid-19 and has no symptoms. He has quarantined at home, hoping to heal soon and come out stronger. Along with the statement, Charan urged all those who had been around him in the past couple of days to get tested. The more updates on his recovery would come soon, added the actor.

Last week, Charan and his wife Upasana Kamineni hosted a Christmas party for his family members and shared the photos on social media. Allu Arjun, Niharika Konidela, Sai Dharam Tej, Allu Sirish, Allu Bobby, Varun Tej, Sreeja and Sushmita among others were present on the occasion. They played games and exchanged gifts in the spirit of Christmas. Now, it seems everyone else who was part of the gathering will have to go for coronavirus testing.

Until December 22, the actor was shooting for SS Rajamouli’s RRR. He was also spotted promoting Sushmita Konidela’s web series Shootout at Alair on the same day. Most recently, Charan had made a surprise visit to the sets of his father Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Acharya. 

Early in November, Chiranjeevi had also tested positive for coronavirus. The veteran actor has now tested negative after getting tested three times, a few days later. He clarified that the previous result was due to a faulty PCR kit.

Meanwhile, several actors from the film industry have so far battled the infectious disease, and have recovered.Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aaradhya Bachchan, Varun Dhawan, Neetu Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Arjun Kapoor, Rakulpreet Singh, Sunny Deol, Maneish Paul, South actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tamannaah Bhatia among others had tested positive for the coronavirus.
