Students of two medical colleges in Kashmir booked under UAPA for celebrating Pakistan’s win in T20 World Cup

India vs Pakistan is considered as one of the crucial matches in World Cup and this time Pakistan scripted history by winning against India and that too with 10 wickets. For those who don’t know, India has won 12 world cup matches against Pakistan in total and looks like the 13th one was lucky for Pakistan as they marked their victory this time.

Soon after, the Pakistan team supporters around the world celebrated their victory by bursting firecrackers. And, even in some parts of India, people celebrated the victory of the neighbour country. However, Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked students, wardens and people from the management of two medical colleges in Kashmir under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly raising anti-India slogans and celebrating Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World Cup on Sunday.

The police reported that the students and the other people who have been booked under UAPA are from the hostels of Sher-E-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Soura and Government Medical College (GMC) in Karan Nagar.

It is also reported that the students were celebrating the win of Pakistan by bursting firecrackers and dancing. They have been booked under Section 13 of UAPA and Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code.

The police have further said that no one has not been named yet in the two FIRs and the accused are yet to be identified.

There were some videos doing rounds on the internet in which it can be seen that some people were seen bursting crackers, dancing and they were also waving Pakistan’s flag. The police said that they will rely on CCTV footage and videos to identify the accused.
