Zee Studios and Essel Vision Productions has released one of the awaited films, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, in theatres on November 15, 2020 starring Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Manoj Bajpayee. Film director Abhishek Sharma said the movie is special to him as it is the first movie released in theatres after 8 months of lockdown following the outbreak of the coroavirus pandemic.
In an interview, Sharma said the first-day collection of the film is not good but he is happy to re-opening the film industry. He said the film industry is the only sector which was highly affected due to the coronavirus pandemic outbreak and the film industry will take time to get back to normal again and called Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is the first step in the right direction.
Director said he is not okay with the release of any films on OOT platforms, he said it is like a death of Hindi film industry, cinema belongs to movie theatres and not to OTT, he added.
Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh and director Abhishek Sharma were seen in a multiplex in Mumbai to get the response of the audience to their film. Dosanjh said he is happy to see people in the theatre and maintaining all the Covid-19 protocols.
As per the government guidline, with the 50 percent of crowd in the theatre, Dosanjh said he feels good to see the hopes for the film industry to bounce back after the dull period.
Talking about the storyline, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari is the story of Manoj Bajpayee’s character, a conman who takes up various get-ups to blackmail men wishing to get married. He then gets involved in a face-off with Diljit’s character, who falls prey to the former’s con, and then falls in love with the former’s sister played by Fatima Sana Shaikh. The movie also stars Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Vijay Raaz, among others.
