A third person died in India due to the novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases continues to rise in the country. The 64-year-old patient with COVID-19 infection passed away in Mumbai, news agency ANI reported. The patient was admitted to Kasturba hospital in Mumbai.
Maharashtra has reported a total of 39 COVID-19 cases, highest in the country after Kerala. At present, there are 125 cases of coronavirus in the country.
The first death from coronavirus infection was reported in Karnataka. The second patient was a 68-year-old woman in Delhi who died at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital last week.
Worldwide, over 7,000 people have died, more than one lakh has been infected in 143 countries. The WHO last week declared Europe as the epicentre of the pandemic.
On Monday, nearly 14,000 people were infected with the novel coronavirus globally — the highest in a single day — bringing the total number of confirmed cases above 167,500, WHO confirmed.
